Surgeons departure may blow out waiting lists
There are plans to remove waiting lists at three of Brisbane’s major hospitals after a patient died following a botched surgery on Wednesday.
Inspector Michael Rolfe said he would remove waiting lists after a patient died at Brisbane City Hospital after being rushed 속초출장샵to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital last Thursday.
Rolfe said an operation was delayed as staff were unable to complete the procedures necessary because of the patient’s condition.
“I suspect that in the longer term it might blow out waiting lists for various operations that people may have been considering due to the patient’s type and risk of injury,” he said.
올인 119Dr David Evers, CEO of the Queensland Medical Association, said it was alarming that a major hospital in Australia was so far to the left of the Queensland Government and the AMA on this issue.
“There is a significant opportunity for further improvement on the right hand side of health care if we could work together to do that,” Dr Evers said.
“We have to be ready to do things in a sensible way in order for people to get access to primary care in Queensland and that includes the need to make sure things are done safely and expediently so people aren’t waiting and suffering unnecessarily, but then also to deal with the long waiting times that people do come through.”
Dr Evers says there are already steps Queensland hospital staff need to take, such as better reporting of adverse events, better monitoring of patients and more access to family members or friends and people who can discuss important matters with the staff that may be a barrier to treatment.
“The need of our patients to be able to find out what is actually going on with their health care and to deal with the pain and suffering that patients have in dealing with such a difficult situation, that’s what we can do,” Dr Evers said.
“We need to create a place for patients to come to who can give support and help in the sense that the staff and the clinicians are just too overloaded trying to deal with all of the problems that their patients might have.”
Dr Evers says while some of 포커the hospitals are doing a better job of tracking patients, many others are still to be made to account for mistakes and patients still face long waits.
“[It will take] a lot of goodwill and people caring and caring more of the staff that are the Queensland health system to start showing how good they are at dealing with these issues,” he said.
